It’s a lively time again for show business as proven by a hit movie and a highly-anticipated TV show.
As reported on “TV Patrol” on March 24, the Sarah Geronimo-Gerald Anderson starrer, “Catch Me I’m In Love” made a killing at the box office. Its first-day showing alone tallied a P15 million earning, which, according to Star Cinema, is quite a feat considering this is the tandem’s first project together.
This very impressive showing at the box office also serves to solidify Geronimo’s status as a box office queen. As such, a victory press conference was held and graced by its visibly happy stars.
The report likewise noted the fairly recent reconciliation between Geronimo and erstwhile nemesis, Cristine Reyes, whose troubles had been widely reported and followed by the media.
While Geronimo’s move to make peace with Reyes had been viewed negatively by some—claiming it was a sly publicity stunt to fuel interest in her movie—the singer-actress insisted in previous interviews that it was a spur of the moment decision that surprised even her, and that she had done it from the heart. And Geronimo’s fans were clearly on her side.
More, Geronimo told “TV Patrol” that that she asked Reyes for understanding regarding her revelations on “The Buzz” on March 20. “Humingi din po ako ng pasensiya from Cristine na parang hindi nga proper na naikwento ko na kaagad… kasi nadala ako kay Tito Boy eh,” she said.
What caught the eye of some showbiz scribes, however, was the bouquet of flowers that Geronimo was carrying at the movie's premiere night.
According to an item on Journal online, the Kimerlads have nothing to worry about because the flowers did not come from Anderson. A source apparently said they were sent by Geronimo’s ‘secret admirer,’ whom the article named as Miguel Villafuerte—son of Camsur governor, L-Ray Villafuerte. It was said that the young man sent Geronimo the flowers because he couldn’t make it to the screening.
In TV land, meanwhile, a special red carpet screening of GMA’s fantaserye, “Captain Barbell,” was held on March 24. Days before the hero makes his return to the small screen, its stars were called out to celebrate with the numerous fans and viewers that came out to catch a screening of the pilot episode, as covered by “24 Oras.”
It was purely a star-studded event. Spotted at the event were main cast members Richard Gutierrez, Lovi Po, Isabel Oli, Michelle Madrigal, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King, TJ Trinidad, Frencheska Farr, and child wonder Jillian Ward; as well as supporting case Paolo Paraiso, Eddie Gutierrez (with son Elvis), Ellen Adarna, John Hall, Jhake Vargaz, and Ervic Vijandre, among others.
At screening, there was also a display of the costumes used in the fantaserya, highlighted by the Captain Barbell costume itself that was even imported from Hong Kong.
