Thia Megia lands at 'Idol' bottom 3; avoids elimination

Filipino-American Thia Megia stayed with American Idol's top 11 despite landing at the bottom 3 after her performance on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).

Megia won praise from Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson for her rendition of Martha and the Vandellas' "Heatwave."

However, it wasn't enough for the American Idol viewers as she was relegated to the bottom 3 along with Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone.

Thia was the first to be sent back to safety while Abrams was forced to sing for the judges' save for getting the lowest number of votes.

However, he was interrupted in the middle of his performance of Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor" after Jackson said the judges would use their one-time power to save him from elimination.

The use of the judges' save means 2 Idol contestants will be booted out next week.
