
MANILA, Philippines – The number of fatalities from the flooding in Southern Leyte and Mindanao has risen to 21, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The council also reported 66 people injured and one missing, with the number of affected families now 127,157 or almost 600,000 people.
The affected families, based on NDRRMC data, come from 697 barangays in 70 municipalities and five cities in the provinces of Southern Leyte, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental and Camiguin, Compostela Valley, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and Sulu.
Meanwhile, the latest fatalities were six drowning victims from Sulu, including an infant. Four of the victims were identified as Abraham Dagun, 1 year and two months; Kurais Sappayane, 72; Kasma Alih, 13; and Kristina Abduhadi, 12.
Sixty-five of those injured, are also from Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, based on the NDRRMC report.
