MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon believes there is no science to winning the prestigious pageant.
More than the signature gestures, say, her Cobra Walk which many deemed crucial to bagging the top title, Janine stressed that standing above the other contestants lies solely on being true to oneself at all times.
More than the question and answer portion, Janine confessed that it was the announcement of the ladies that made it to the Top 10 and the swimsuit rounds that got her most excited.
Pero since nakita ko naman na ‘yung camera na medyo malapit na sakin, sabi ko ‘ah siguro ako ‘yung last,’” recalled the 23-year-old beauty queen.
The source of Janine’s anxiety during the swimsuit round was the "wiggling heel" of her shoes, which according to her, almost got her out of balance while walking onstage.
Asked how she managed to answer the final question in such an intelligent manner, Janine said that had anticipated for anything thrown her way.
Janine is set to arrive in the Philippines on Saturday.
