MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing icon and pound-for-pound king congratulated fellow boxer Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria after the latter won the WBO flyweight championship last Sunday.
Pacquiao said that he watched Viloria’s bout against Mexican Julio Cesar Miranda.
“Congratulations sa iyong pagkapanalo, at nandito lang kami sa likod mo,” Pacquiao said to Viloria.
Viloria won via unanimous decision to earn his 3rd world title.
“Okay naman, maganda yung pinakita n’ya,” Pacquiao said of Viloria’s performance. “Kulang siguro s’ya sa preparasyon kaya medyo kapos sa last round.”
Pacquiao also admitted to watching Juan Manuel Marquez’ bout against Likar Ramos.
Marquez knocked out Ramos in the 1st round of the match.
“Maganda naman at nanalo s’ya sa first round, good for him,” Pacquiao said.
After the bout, Marquez said that Pacquiao needed to prepare very well for their upcoming bout on November 12.
“Maghahanda rin ako ng todo, at maghanda rin s’ya,” Pacquiao said.
Advise to Azkals
Meanwhile, the fighting congressman also offered some advice to the Philippine Azkals, who are currently in Bahrain and training for their game against Kuwait on July 23.
“Believe in God and pray before the game... Trust in each other,” Pacquiao said.
He added that despite being massive underdogs in the game, the Azkals should not lose hope.
“Bilog ang bola,” Pacquiao said.
