MANILA, Philippines — Bring binoculars.
NBA diehards who still wish to ogle their idols during this weekend's exhibition games featuring Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul and MVP Derrick Rose will have to settle for the farthest seats the Araneta Coliseum has to offer.
Only three sections of the Big Dome remain available for the special treat dubbed “Ultimate All-Star Weekend” which boasts off eight of the NBA's finest against the PBA All-Stars and Smart-Gilas Pilipinas as tickets for the event have been selling like hotcakes since Friday's major announcement.
Upper A and B tickets cost P1,600 and P800, respectively, while the General Admission, a bleacher section close to the roof of the 61-year old facility is pegged at P350, according to TicketNet.
The nearest seats like the Patron section, pegged at P5,500, and Lower Box areas (P3,800) have been sold out with some TicketNet outlets only selling Upper B and "Gen-Ad" tickets.
The Araneta Group said that "due to the high demand for tickets, reservations (are) no longer accepted" and fans are encouraged to try their luck at nearest outlets.
When it was confirmed that Bryant, Paul along with Tyreke Evans, James Harden and Derrick Rose will come to Manila, fans had mobbed ticket booths for the best seats.
News that Rose and Lakers guard Derek Fisher were also arriving only heightened the demand, providing scalpers brisk business.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan will not be able to join the tour because of passport problems, Talk N' Text coach and chief organizer Chot Reyes said on Twitter.
A replacement for Jordan, who had a solid campaign for the struggling Clippers last season, will soon be announced.
