MANILA, Philippines – The Light Rail Transit Authority clarified today that the unannounced “Code Red” at LRT 2 was due to the suicide incident at Cubao Station.
Lawyer Hernando Cabrera, LRTA spokesperson, said an unidentified man jumped to the train tracks at 10:11 a.m. today upon the arrival of a Santolan-bound train at the station.
“Hinintay nya talaga ang train na dumating bago siya tumalon,” Cabrera said. He however noted that the man survived and is now undergoing medical treatment.
“Tinamaan siya ng train at naputol ang kamay nya,” the LRTA official added.
He said LRT workers are now clearing the tracks for the immediate resumption of train operations along LRT 2.
Earlier, passengers along Betty Go Belmonte Station alerted philstar.com on the unannounced stoppage of train operations.
Under Code Red, all operations of LRT, in this case the LRT 2 (trains plying Recto-Satolan and vice versa), are temporarily suspended due to technical problems.
