Controversial television host Willie Revillame returns to primetime via a new variety game show titled “Will Time, Bigtime” on ABC TV 5 on Saturday, May 14, 2011, promising not to fail his viewers and help the poor, his lawyer said Tuesday.
“Willie (Revillame) has promised his viewers that he will not fail them; that Willie will, in spite of the harassments done on him, continue to give hope and help the poor and the helpless,’’ said lawyer Leonard De Vera in text message. The new show will debut at 5:30 p.m., replacing “Willing Willie.”
Revillame returns after his top-rating show “Willing Willie” was suspended for one month, including the voluntary suspension, after the same was criticized for alleged child abuse following the March 12 segment featuring a boy contestant performing a macho dance routine.
The show has apologized since then to sectors that were affected by the segment but stressed it did not abuse the boy during the show.
Revillame, also an actor and recording artist, also apologized to the public. He said the show will return under a new format.
De Vera also confirmed from Jay Montelibano, Business Unit Manager, ABC TV 5, that the game show will debut on May 14, 2011. ABC TV 5 is expected to officially announce the new game show Wednesday.
The show is expected to air daily, Mondays to Fridays, from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., despite early reports that the new game show will be transferred to a noontime slot.
Other members of Willing Willie – like Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad – are expected to join Will Time, Big Time. But ABC 5 entertainment program “Juicy Express” hinted that an additional co-host will be introduced in the new game show.
One of the shows major sponsors – Camella Group – has expressed support to Revillame’s new game show. The realty firm, which has stood by Revillame, is expected to give away houses and lots as major prizes in the new primetime show.
