That’s what Freddie Roach said Monday before he boarded his black Mercedes, a CL 63 AMG, en route to this boxing capital also famous for its casinos and round-the-clock parties.
Roach is not giving Shane Mosley a chance in this fight, set for Saturday night at the MGM.
“The thing is that it will be a fast start. Shane will fade and I agree we can get him around that time frame,” said the celebrated trainer.
Roach is thinking of a time frame of five to seven rounds. It could be over by then, but he said if Pacquiao wants it, maybe even quicker.
“Three rounds? I’d love that,” he said.
“Manny Pacquiao will go out there really quick and if he does what he can do... he can end it if he wants to, if he wants to do it,” Roach added.
The odds point heavily to a Pacquiao victory by knockout.
But Mosley, at 39 trying to turn back the hands of time, has never been knocked out before, and Roach recognizes the fact.
He said while he’s hoping for a knockout victory, he’s also ready to steer Pacquiao through 12 rounds in the clash for the WBO welterweight crown.
“I get a lot of comments that he’s never been knocked out before. So, we’re ready to go 12 rounds. Whatever it takes is fine with us,” he said.
Roach watched Pacquiao spar four rounds with Shawn Porter at the Wild Card Gym before the Filipino champion pushed for the 300-mile drive to Vegas.
The next few days here will be all downhill as far as training is concerned, and it will get more tactical, just going through the motions.
“We’re going to the track and tomorrow and shake it a little bit, maintain things and just keep the cobwebs off,” said Roach.
He said he was driving by himself to Vegas.
