Eat, Bulaga! draws record crowd in Vancouver (PHOTO INSIDE)

MANILA, Philippines - The Eat, Bulaga! Dabarkads show in Vancouver, Canada held last April 23 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre broke the attendance record previously set by the Filipino bands Side A and Freestyle.

A crowd estimate of more than 3,000, mostly made up of kababayan, filled the theater and tremendously enjoyed the show.

Led by the famous comical and musical trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, they were joined by Pia Guanio, Michael V, Ruby Rodriguez, Pauleen Luna, Anjo Yllana, Julia Clarete, Paolo Ballesteros, Jimmy Santos, EB Babes, Allan K and the tandem of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.

he EB Babes kicked off the fun, dancing to Shembot. Pia, Pauleen and Ruby followed suit and enjoined the audience in their Tayo’y Magsayawan number. It was followed by the Mga Kababayan Ko rendition of Allan K, Julia and Michael V.

The quartet of Jose, Wally, Paolo and Anjo brought the house down when they performed Mr. Suave and pandemonium broke loose when Tito, Vic and Joey entered the stage.

Tito did his version of the Bruno Mars hit Just The Way You Are. Vic sang Every Breath You Take while Joey performed his own version of Sandwich’s Sugod, tweaking the lyrics to the great amusement of the audience.

The deafening cheers and laughter continued when Jose and Wally did their hilarious interpretation of Freddie Aguilar’s Anak, changing the title to Canucks after the famous football team in Canada. A dance showdown came in next, featuring Pia, Pauleen, Ruby, EB Babes, Julia plus Paolo as Precious Paolo Nicole. Allan K delivered the “Ms. Universe 2011-Animal Division” sketch, while Michael V spoofed Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance with Bathroom Dance.

When TVJ returned on stage, they showcased their signature musicality with their big band medley and proceeded with their iconic Tough Hits wherein, together with Jimmy Santos, they translated in English the lyrics of Bahay Kubo.

Pinoy Henyo was a big hit among the Vancouver crowd and the winners won $100 Canadian each, plus EB shirt and jacket.

The Dabarkads ended the show with TVJ’s Rock, Baby, Rock with the audience happily joining in as a gesture of thanks to the EB Dabarkads.
