After getting a much needed break during the Holy Week, Barangay Ginebra will try to finish their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals showdown against Smart-Gilas Pilipinas on Sunday.
“Game Four is a must-win game for us,” Ginebra coach Jong Uichico said in PBA.ph.
The Nationals foiled Ginebra's sweep bid in their best-of-5 series with a 100-88 victory in Game 3 last Wednesday .
Uichico said they will try to counteract Gilas’ scorers, particularly naturalized player Marcus Douthit, and shooters Jayvee Casio and Chris Tiu.
Smart-Gilas coach Rajko Toroman said he’s proud of his boys’ performance as a PBA guest team.
“Our guys showed that they’re competitive; that they know how to play basketball. What makes me proud is the sportsmanship and fair play we bring in the game. No one can say we play dirty or we’re arrogant. We only play with our skills,” said Toroman.
The Nationals are trying to duplicate the feat first achieved by guest team Northern Cement Consolidated, which won the PBA Reinforced Conference title in 1985.
