MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angel Locsin’s popularity sees no abating as evidenced in her recent nomination in this year's Shorty’s – an event honoring individuals and organizations with the most following on the micro-blogging website Twitter.
Locsin, whose Twitter account has over half a million followers, is very much elated with the selection.
“Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako,” said she in a recent interview.
She acknowledged her followers’ continued support, citing them among the “best.”
“Sila kasi ang nagboboto. Wala akong idea. Siguro dahil iyon ang paniniwala nila, ni-nominate nila ako [for the award],” she said.
Locsin is nominated on the popular actress category. She is up against Stana Katic (an actress featured on the American TV series, “Castle”) who is at number one and Nina Dobrev (of the highly-successful series, “Vampire Diaries”) who is at second place.
The nomination is an achievement in itself according to Locsin but that she would most welcome a win as well if ever.
"Kasi, iba rin if 'yong effort ng mga nagboto [would bear fruit]," she said.
"Pero kung hindi naman, wala namang problema doon."
As popular as she is, Locsin concedes that her love life is not as rosy. She admits that she is still single and free inasmuch as she is yet to find a date on Valentine’s.
“May mga nagaaya [for a date], pero hindi naman pwedeng sama ka lang nang sama,” she said.
“Mamimili ka rin siyempre."
Wary of the adage that haste means waste, Locsin said she is not in a hurry to fall in love.
“Masarap ang feeling na in love. Pero mas masarap ‘yun kung sa tamang tao,” said she.
“Darating naman ‘yan.”
Alluding to “Imortal” co-star John Lloyd Cruz’ controversial quandary about actress Ruffa Gutierrez and Shaina agdayao, Locsin said, “may respeto kami sa personal na buhay ng isa’t isa.”
She denied the possibility of being implicated in the same due to her closeness with Cruz.
“Kami ni Lloydy, sa simula pa lang alam na namin na trabaho lang. Masaya kami kapag magkasama sa set. Hindi na namin nilalagyan ng ibang kulay,” she said.
“As much as possible, inihihiwalay ko talaga ‘yung personal kong buhay sa trabaho.”
Meanwhile, Locsin commended actor Piolo Pascual’s recent act of confessing his relationship with actress-singer KC Concepcion on national TV.
“‘Yun na talaga ang pinaka-poging [act] na nakita ko sa kanya.”
“Ang pakiramdam ko talaga habang nanonood, ‘Ang pogi talaga ni Piolo Pascual!’
“Para ngang bumalik ‘yung crush ko para sa kanya. Kaya lang taken na siya.”
