QUEZON CITY, Philippines (PIA) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines will give its final salute to their former Chief of Staff, Angelo T. Reyes Friday at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
From Arlington memorial chapel in Araneta, Quezon City, Reyes’ remains will be escorted by military personnel to Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao, Quezon City where the former general graduated as the class valedictorian in 1960, and then to St. Ignatius Cathedral in Camp Aguinaldo.
A eulogy will be given Friday afternoon by members of the Harvard Society. Reyes finished his master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1994.
On Saturday, February 12, his remains will be transferred to the GHQs canopy area wherein a necrological service will take place at 5:00 in the afternoon to be followed by a mass before the public viewing.
A final mass will be held on Sunday morning, February 13, inside Camp Aguinaldo.
His remains will then be laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Reyes will be accorded a 19-gun salute being a former chief of staff of the AFP and secretary of the DND with honor guards from the General Headquarters, the Philippine Army, Air Force, and the Navy for the arrival honors.
Members from the Philippine Air Force will provide flower petal drops during the procession.
Angelo T. Reyes who served as former Chief of Staff of the Armed of the Philippines in 2000 to 2001 and as Secretary of National Defense under the Arroyo administration died Tuesday morning due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
